About the Arizona Rivalry Foundation

The Arizona Rivalry Foundation is Nogales High School Alumni and graduates of Arizona State University and the University of Arizona.


What is our Objective?

To award a one time, first-year scholarship to an outstanding Nogales High School senior who has committed to attend ASU or U of A for their Freshman year. Our goal, is to make this award to the freshman attending of the university that won the Territorial Cup football game during their senior year.  


Eligibility Requirements  

Applications will be available on-line beginning December 1, 2018

Applicants must have:

  • Minimum GPA – 3.5 (based on unofficial transcripts)

  • Residency – Santa Cruz County, AZ (residency for tuition purposes is determined at the time of application to the university)

  • Enrollment Status – Full Time (12 credit Hours)

  • Accepted to the school that won the Territorial Cup (either ASU or U of A)
  • Completed FAFSA
  • Submitted all scholarship application requirements by March 17, 2019.

A completed application includes the followinng:

  • Complete scholarship application, essay questions and personal statement
  • Unofficial transcript
  • Letter of recommendation from high school faculty member (teacher, counselor, administrator)
  • Copy of Financial Aid Student Aid Report (SAR)


Applicants may not be:

  • Children or grandchildren of officers, or members of the Arizona Rivalry Foundation Board or ASU or U of A employees

  • Currently attending college

  • Temporary United States residents

  • Recipients of National Merit scholarships or recipients of grants, waivers and other scholarships that cover the full cost of tuition

Evaluation Criteria


Fair weighted score will be assigned to:

  • FASFA information (Student Aid Report "SAR")

  • Grade Point Average

  • Essay questions

  • Personal Statement/Scholarship Essay (factors that make the applicant stand out)

  • Personal Reference from teacher

  • Interviews may be conducted
